A satirical work, directed against 'false tastes in learning', initiated by the Scriblerus Club and written mainly by Arbuthnot. It was printed in the second volume of Pope's prose works in 1741.The name 'Martin Scriblerus' was occasionally used by Pope as a pseudonym, and by Crabbe in some of his earlier poems.

Memoirs of Martinus Scriblerus. The Memoirs of Martinus Scriblerus is an incomplete satirical work ostensibly by the members of the Scriblerus Club but which was principally written by John Arbuthnot. 'Martinus Scriblerus' was a pseudonym of Pope's which was later also adopted by George Crabbe.
In John Arbuthnot an important share was the Memoirs of Martinus Scriblerus, a mocking exposure of pedantry, first published in the 1741 edition of Pope's works but largely written as early as 1713–14 by the members of the Scriblerus Club.
