27 Jun 2001 How thick should the acrylic be, and how difficult is it? I just priced it out, and a 500 gallon GLASS tank is like $3500 and ACRYLIC is about $7000. . You do know that a sheet of 1" acrylic is somewhere in the $250 range, epoxy paint is $60 a gal for each part, and i imagine enough wood to support that
2 Aug 2012 The only thing available in home depot in my area, are 3/32 inches glass. Will this be enough to support a 50 gal tank that im planning to build? or do I need to find some other supplier for thicker glass? thanks in advance!

I want to build a 220 gallon aquarium to fit against my wall. Glass thickness? No experience with building tanks, but I do have experience with woodworking and we have lots of extra 2 by 4s sitting around that would make a really nice .. I bought my 165 for about $250 ($450 for tank, stand and pump).
