23 May 2009 (1994, 1995) are the most comprehensive texts to date on continuous univariate distributions. Monographs by Ord (1972) and Hastings and Peacock (1975) are worth mentioning, with the latter being a convenient handbook presenting graphs of densities and various relationships between distributions.

A quarter of a century has elapsed since the appearance in 1970 of the first edition of this book. It is one of four books dealing with distributions, there being a volume dedicated to discrete distributions, two to univariate continuous distributions, and one to multivariate continuous distributions. In this second edition, the
Continuous Univariate Distributions, Volume 2 (2nd ed.), by Norman L. JOHNSON, Samuel KOTZ, and N. BALAKRISHNAN, New York: John Wiley, 1995, xix +. 719 pp., $85. This is the second volume of the revised opus by the authors. A review of the new Volume 1 appeared in the November 1995 issue of this journal.
Figure 1 contains 76 univariate probability distributions. There are 19 discrete and 57 continuous models. Discrete distri- butions are displayed in rectangular boxes; continuous distribu- tions are displayed in rounded boxes. The discrete distributions are at the top of the figure, with the exception of the Benford. Lawrence M.

Figure 1 illustrates 35 univariate distributions in 35 rectangle-like entries. The row and column numbers are labeled on the left and top of Fig. 1, respectively. There are. 10 discrete distributions, shown in the first two rows, and. 25 continuous distributions. Five commonly used sampling distributions are listed in the third row.
