Research:
Studying my late childhood favorite subject, Profiling, looking into the cases of Bundy, Dahmer, Ridgeway and others I seek to again grasp the strange fiction of human darkness that seemingly gets the viewers attention. Coming from a background of horror films I've been away from the field for what feels like quite some time now. The reason most likely to be personal reincarnation and soul search while the fact of everyday life brutality gave me a hard kick in the nuts, now I'm back not with the possible strong interest in blood, guts and gore anymore but rather the face behind the human darkness. What is it really that makes these ordinary looking people commit the most gruesome acts of depraved madness and what is it that makes the rest, the audience, feed their horrors in the shadow of these acts even giving the killers idol status? Why is it that the serial-killer medium on the big screen is the memorable character worthy of an almost anti-hero like status? These things are both fascinating and utterly interesting while also giving a great deal of insight in the human mind.
That is my recent undertaking but also old interest which I study, case file after case file to try to find the pieces in the puzzle. Those pieces which just might create an unforgettable fictional character circling the shadows in coming writings like a predator waiting for the final kill.
Be mindful because the world is a harsh place.
