As unoriginal as this formula may be (due to this type of movie being done so many times before, spy kids for example), it is still quite an enjoyable movie. Bit of comedy, bit of action, an all around fun movie.
Now for the reviewers who rated it so low, no offence but really? 1 out of 10? 2 out of 10? I don't know for sure but I strongly believe that this movie was not trying to become the next Shawshank Redemption.
Come on guys it's a movie for kids, children who believe they are an aeroplane 24/7 and play with toys. Slapstick humor, action sequences, a feel good movie..thats what kids love! And I believe Zoom delivered in that aspect.
Thus I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 because of how well it succeeded in what it was trying to achieve, to make a movie for kids. If your a parent and have some little critters of your own, go rent it or buy it, they will love it!I thought this movie was pretty good so I gave it a 4 or 5 stars. Yes there were things missing and I could not tell if Conner was good at the end. His eyes turned from red to blue at the end to signify that he was no longer bad but his acting did not say the same. He was not very convincing on turning good. They could have developed the kids characters more and given us a better background of the kids. Overall I thought the acting was pretty good. I thought Tim did a great job. I also thought Chevy Chase, Courtney Cox and the rest of the kids did good on acting. I think that Summer and Dylan had great chemistry. I think Kate Mara and Michael Cassidy were great. I liked Michael rebellious side. I thought he played that well. I do wish they showed why each character felt the way they did. It would have been more fitting if they showed more on how the kids, zoom, and the scientist lady felt on the way they were treated by the outside world. That would have brought more character to the movie. I also thought that they should had more Conner in the film and show more on his side as well. Not everything is as they seem.Zoom is a C-list production in every possible way, from the actors and the special effects to the music and the script. Even the product placement is completely third rate.In the only photo of the old Zenith team, in addition to Tim Allen (Zoom) and Kevin Zegers (Concussion), the other teammates are portrayed by Alexis Bledel (Ace?), Wilmer Valderrama (Marksman?) and Devon Aoki (Daravia?).
