Rose Cooper is an uptight and by-the-book cop whose name has become synonymous with screw-ups. She's given a chance to redeem herself one day when she is assigned to protect a federal witness, Daniella Riva, the vivacious and outgoing widow of a drug boss. As the two polar opposites race through Texas, they find themselves pursued by everyone from crooked cops to murderous gunmen. However, their greatest obstacle to making this out alive may be themselves as they learn that Cooper has now been considered a fugitive fleeing with Daniella.

The press essentially acted like this was the first film to have female leads in the history of cinema and insinuated that if you didn't see it, you were a bunch of sexist pigs. Sorry, trendy, PC critics, it's a lousy movie. Bad script, bad direction, and just a whole lot of obnoxiousness. There are other films out there with women in them (despite what the MSM tells you), so seek them out and don't watch a film that uses political correctness to guilt you into seeing it. If critics want to be masochists by making themselves like mediocre movies for political purposes, go ahead. But they can't force the public to follow their lead, proving, yet again, the public is much more intelligent than the critics give them credit for.
The movie tries to do what The Heat(2013) did, bringing back the 1980's style of action comedies, two unlikely partners are forced to team up to stop some bad guys, Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock played there parts with conviction and comedic appeal, I wish I could say the same for Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara. It tries to be in the same vein has Midnight Run type of film.

This could have been something fun, but only if Witherspoon and Vergara had chemistry, which they don't, unlike McCarthy and Bullock in The Heat(2013). Both actress's do a serious amount of overacting, which makes the jokes both try to deliver fall flat. Action scenes go nowhere. I was trying to hold my sanity together just waiting for it end. Other characters just get pushed away.

If you want a better action comedy with female leads, then rent The Heat(2013) instead.
The direction is credited to somebody named Anne Fletcher, but no evidence of it survives.
