After losing her job, Jersey girl Stephanie Plum is broke. Needing a job she is told that her cousin, a bail bondsman, needs someone to help out in the office. But the only job openings he has are for skip tracers. She learns that Joe Morelli, a guy she knew intimately years ago, is one of the "skips". She eventually finds him but wasn't really prepared so he gets away. Another bounty hunter, Ranger, tries to teach her. Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked.
Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
They need to do other movies based on the books. I've read the whole series, the reviews don't get it right. This movie was a disappointment because in the books Stephanie is naturally good looking and normal sized, The cast was all wrong. When you read the books Stephanie is normal sized but naturally attractive, so yes they cast too small of a woman. However, they also missed the boat with the men. The actors they used weren't good looking and natural enough. The books and the story lines are better than the typical LMN movie, they just need to cast them right. Apparently whoever picked the actors and actress didn't read the novels, or can't comprehend well enough to picture characters when they do read them.
Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl) is unemployed and newly-divorced. She is completely broke and lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business. Her first job is an ex-boyfriend wanted cop Joe Morelli (Jaason O'Mara).
This was critically panned and it has become fashionable to ridicule a Katherine Heigl movie. It's not without merit. However there is some good points about this movie. Heigl and O'Mara have some good chemistry. They have this love-hate relationship which is so vital in these kinds of rom-com. It is a little too cutesy at the start, but it gets slightly better later on. I do mean slightly. It's in that middling area and never gets that good.
During a dinner with Stephanie's colorfully ethnic family, including a squandered Debbie Reynolds, the reaction shots arrive with bludgeoning regularity, and the soundtrack's burbling organ serves as an incessant reminder not to take anything seriously. Fortunately, there's no danger of that.
