1 May 2013 The only way to get out of Guided Access is to press the Home and Power button together for 15 seconds. This will turn off Guided Access by forcibly rebooting your device. Once your device is restarted, you can then go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > and turn off Guided Access if needed.

19 May 2017 Don't bother switching off the iPhone as it won't work when Guided access is enabled. However, the soft reset will work like a charm. Once your iOS device restarts enter your iPhone passcode or use TouchID to unlock it. After unlocking it, follow the steps below to reset Guided Access password.
That is a dilemma. If you know the password to access the iPad itself, hold the home and power button down until the iPad reboots. When it starts, it should not boot back into Guided Access and you shouldn't have to remember the password.
To turn ON the Sleep/Wake option, triple-click the Home button on your device to open the Guided Access settings. Tap Options under Hardware Buttons (or the main Options button, if you are using an iPhone) and toggle the Sleep/Wake button to ON/green. You will have to do this for all apps that use Guided Access.
