17 Dec 2015 Solution 2: Downsample the images after export using Acrobat. Choose File > Export and select PDF as your format, choose a location and click Save. In the Export PDF dialog box, disable the image downsampling options. Set the downsampling options you desire in the Image Settings pane.

I'm using InDesign CS5 on OSX 10.8. I've tried to export multiple pdfs from various files and have this problem every now and then (Which happend on both OSX 10.7 and 10.8). The empty pdf file will start as if nothing is wrong and then just disappear after about 10-15 seconds. No error dialog pops up or anything.
