PROLOUGE
Hi. My name is Emmethy. When I was seventeen I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She looked just like a little angel. She was the prettiest baby there. I saw her in the room at the hospital among the other babies. She really was the prettiest baby there. I swear. But I was too young to be a mother so I had to give her away. I put her up for adoption three weeks after I found out about her. When I started to get fat… Well, bigger… When I started getting bigger I talked my parents into letting my spend four months in Europe at a “friends place". I just told them I was going to live with a friend and I wanted to pay some rent for living there. So they gave me money for it for four months. It was hard, but i found a place to live. And they gave me money for food. So I stayed there until I had given birth. Then I went back home, gave the beautiful, beautiful baby to the new parents. I missed her so much. It was like my heart was going to get ripped into shreds every time I thought about her, and I thought about her. Often. I met her once every other week for her first two years. I heard her first word “mama" and I saw her first steps. It was like she waited for me to get there before she did it. I was the one who noticed her first tooth. That was the last time I met her. After that it just hurt too much to say goodbye. So I told them I wanted to leave her before she remembered me. So I did. I missed her every day, but it was for the best. I got married, even to her father. I got new kids with him. The first one was a boy. I saw her in everything he did. Everything was going great.
Until I started getting letters from her.
