Rant, feel free to TL;DR.
To fight the paranoia and anxiety inflicted by not feeling good enough, I always try to become better than everyone else, at everything I care about. Intellectual topics like arguments, grammar, lingustics, etc... Vain things like looks, sex, being a good friend/boyfriend... Just random, many times stupid, things like smoking (inhaling, blowing rings, etc.)
As a six-years old I once said "I know that I'm never good enough, sorry." Those words seems to have nailed themselves into my mind and keeps pushing me down, pushing me to become better.
Elitism. If I'm not the best at what I do, I might just not do it at all.
If I see someone being better than me at anything, I get anxious.
If I see that my loved one thinks that someone else is better than me at anything, nothing special, important or even relevant at all, I get paranoid and do everything I can to become best I can at that topic.

Man behöver inte vara bäst på allt Felix. Jag förstår hur du känner, jag tycker inte heller om att folk är bättre än mig på saker, men man får försöka vara glad över det man ändå är bra på. Du är du och du är underbar precis som du är. Jag lovar, du duger. Okej? Sätt inte för stor press på dig själv.
