Both stranded on Fryine IV, Both Davidge and Jeriba both put aside their differences and their hatred for each other as they both try to survive on the planet, where they learn of each other's cultures and form a friendship.This is one of the best science fiction films that I have seen over the years. It only focuses on two characters and works completely in the lines of dialog for the most part. I believe that this film is greatly under estimated for what it really is. It had a brilliant way of telling a story, even though I've seen the same setup used in other movies and TV shows before. I have to clap to the actors that were given the main character roles in this, I couldn't think of two other people to execute these roles in such way other than Louis Gossett and Dennis Quaid. I encourage anyone to watch this, even if you aren't a science fiction fan because it really doesn't heavily base itself on science, rather the film relies of social and relationship storyline.What everyone seems to forget about this film, is just how much FUN it is!

Yes, it's full of all that stuff about the human condition, blah, blah, blah - ad infinitum.

What we tend to forget is that all stories have these type of themes, in one ratio or another, whatever media they are presented in. Otherwise they would be of no interest whatsoever.

This movie was extremely well done for it's budget. The actors were great for this type of thing, not too heavy, not too light, Just right!

Loved it.In Germany the movie was shown in a version that is 1 minute longer than the International Version. Two scenes were prolonged. Be aware that the German DVD only features the International Version. Yes.
