The Sword and Shield(SnS), is and excellent weapon for quick combos and retreats. The SnS allows its users to immediately block after most attacks and can allow a attack after most manuevers. Its very versatile aswell, allowing short animations for most functions like putting the SnS away, or pulling them back out.
Always use the jump slash/draw attack and follow up with 3 more triangles then finish with a circle. Don't do the full combo as it takes too long. Take advantage of the rolling attack, and follow up with the same combo as above. The only other tip is don't get too greedy, do a full combo then roll out and wait

Sword and Shield (??? Katateken), focuses on using a wide variety of elements or statuses to both attack buttons simultaneously. The Sword and Shield's longest combo is either forward upward slash, jumping slash, or rolling slash followed by 4 hit combo, 2 side hits, and then the spinning slash for a 8-hit combo.
