The 016 in Audi V8's is supposed to be a bit stronger and uses a larger input shaft than the 5cyl 016 transmissions. The axle flanges can be swapped with 01E It's a well documented proccess to swap an auto for a manual on the A6 C5 2.7t but I don't know about an A8 D2. the_duke is offline. the_duke.
28 Feb 2011 So, I've always wanted an a8/s8 but the lack of power kept me from getting one. So, the plan is to pick up a clean a8 and drop in a 2.7T Stage III motor and 01E transmission. I figured that the S8 pedal box will accept the parts from another manual car if you have both sets in front of you. Looks like one such possibility is to use the clutch and flywheel setup out of an S4, which then requires the Transmission spacer of the S4, and then you can use This is not unlike the Audi V8.

The Audi A8 were all available in RHD form as 4-speed automatic, 4-speed Tiptronic, and from 1997 5-speed Tiptronic. The United States and Canada also got the automatic / Tiptronic transmission as was available in Britain, though there have been subsequent conversions to 6-speed manual. So far
