Sequel to the 2002 film. This time, Heavyweight Champ George "Iceman" Chambers is sent to a Russian Jail on trumped-up drug charges.
Let me just start out by saying that I have never been a huge fan of this genre of movie. And having previously seen the First Undisputed I was reluctant to rent this title and was not expecting it to be anything more than just a mediocre fighting movie that takes place after "Iceman" gets wrongfully imprisoned once again. However, the feelings that I got from the protagonist "Iceman" and the antagonist "Boyka" were genuine to say the least. These two characters played their roles marvolously, both knowing that they are bad mofo's, the only difference is that "Boyka" has a need to be viewed as the best fighter ever so he can be the top dog in the prison earning him power and respect; Whereas "Iceman" truly lives up to his name and believe me when I say I don't think there was one point in the movie that he ever doubts the fact that he doesn't give a "F" who you are or how tough you act because this guy would have made Mike Tyson crap himself in his prime. Overall, the movie was well rounded with minor roll playing characters serving their purposes better than you'd expect, and absolute spine tingling fights, in and out of the ring, that by the end of this movie you will most likely feel chills through your body because the storyline draws you in like you would never believe an action fighting movie could.
I'm not into these "open up a can of whoop-ass on the bad guy" flicks, but there is an element of this movie that caused me to use it as training for my officers when I was a sergeant as a prison. It is the very real depiction of an offender who is often abused and used. Ben Cross played that character (Stevie Parker) and did it to perfection. Every expression, every step taken on the recreation yard or in the chow hall was very convincing. That was so well written I gave it a 9.
Then you have more types of conflict than the actual fighting. Man vs. Self...Man vs. man...etc...
This is a film I highly recommend to anyone working in a correctional facility for that reason alone. THAT aspect of the story, as well as the dirty officers and such was handled VERY well by the writers. It also beats those lame-ass state training videos too because it actually depicts what an officer SHOULD be watching for. It is set in another country, but the issues are the same.
