Pulling the lid off, I found a small 1W LM358 amp had been added - which may have been stock with the MFJ board - or not. I could not find an original MFJ schematic but it looks like the MFJ implementation follows the Curtis datasheet values closely. The small amp sits on a daughter board on the back wall of the keyer

MFJ 407B keyer. (1/1). Franklin M. Cloud: I recently dug out my old MFJ 407B keyer to improve my code speed. I have lost the manual. I need to know how to wire the 9volt dc power supply. Would appreciate any asssistance as I don't want to damage the 407 B. I have a plug. I have not been on CW in many years. Thanks,
Manual is here; www.universal-radio.com/catalog/morse/1324om.pdf. Basically you plug a set of iambic paddles into it and it into the rig. It is great for an older rig that does not have electronic keying circuitry built into it. Most all do these days. Some might use one anyway as it may allow more flexibility
