29 Mar 2017 Describes a problem where the printer operates in manual feed mode when you print a document in Word 2003. Provides a hotfix.
This issue can occur for various reasons: - The paper source in the application is set to "Manual feed" or "MP tray". - The paper size is set to a custom or special size. - The document was created using a wizard (i.e. Envelopes or Labels in Microsoft Word). The document will print according to the rules set up in the wizard
Sometimes, depending on how the document was originally formatted, you need to change the actual document settings. To do this, on your open document click on 'Page Layout' tab; expand 'Page Layout'; go to 'Page Set Up'; choose 'Paper'; then 'Paper Source'; then choose 'Manual Feed.' Close and print.
8 Oct 2014 All print jobs prompt to feed paper in Tray 1 unless Manual Feed is disabled via the web interface for the printer. For some reason, when we utilize HP Uni Drivers (for x86/x64 compat), the printer always wants to default to the manual feed tray instead of Tray 2 I told them they should select the paper type on the tray because if they print to a differnt printer with differnt tray assignments they will have the same issue.
1 Oct 2008 The problem is that when clicking print, the printer insists on using the manual feeder tray. If there is no paper in the manual feeder, it does not grab paper from the main tray, it just puts on a red screen, telling you to insert paper into the manual feeder. Choosing the "main tray" in print settings does not help.
Choose Print from the File menu and open the Print dialog. Choose Print Settings from the print options pop-up menu. Click Print. The Auto Select setting will automatically pull paper from any paper source (tray or manual feed slot) that has a defined paper size that matches your document.
