I am relatively new to using/exploring 3Dscanning and from what i can tell, for using the 360 Kinect camera, the only usable software is Skanect. Can't you load up the mesh (or pointcloud idk) in blender or so and manually align them? Why is scanect the only software? What about reconstructme (free)?
It does scan, but not very wellmaybe the software we've tried hasn't been the best, but so far we've tried Skanect, Reconstructme, David, and one other one that does "selfies". There are I bought the full version of Skanect, works great!!! tons of detail and if you can go slow enough or rig something up, its very accurate!
11 Sep 2012 It has a really simple user interface and allows you to quickly clear up scans and manually move them around to align them. It especailly worked well Kscan3d is more like taking a whole bunch of still 3d pictures and stitching them together. Tomorrow I'm Are those colored vertices or textured triangles?
6 Apr 2017 If you don't have a Structure Sensor you can also buy it bundled with Skanect for $499. Although I'm testing Skanect with a Structure Sensor, you can also use it with Asus Xtion or PrimeSense Carmine sensors. And Microsoft Kinect 360 (not the XBOX One / V2 version, since that one isn't very good for 3D
