Former cop Brian O'Conner is called upon to bust a dangerous criminal and he recruits the help of a former childhood friend and street racer who has a chance to redeem himself.
Brian O'Conner has left LA due to his illegal actions from the first movie and now soars the streets of Miami making money here and there by street racing. Watched by Customs Agent Monica Fuentes, Brian is caught by the police and is given a deal by Agent Markham and Bilkins to go undercover and try to bring down drug lord Carter Verone in exchange for his criminal record to be erased. Brian agrees but only if he is given permission to choose his partner. Brian heads home to Barstow, California where he recruits an old friend Roman Pearce to help him. Pearce agrees but only for the same deal Brian was offered. With the help of Monica, Brian and Rome work together to take down Verone.
This is definitely not the first movie, or the third, but it's still okay.
I can't say the movie's bad, it still has awesome action and some badass sequences that kept my attention. Unfortunately, the street racing sequences just didn't feel intense at all.
One issue that I dislike about this movie and the third was that Vin Diesel wasn't in them. Vin Diesel is the Fast and the Furious movies. At least the third one had the respect to not add Paul Walker too.
To summarize, this movie has badass action that is willing to hold one's attention, cool street races that weren't intense, and a sad absence of Vin Diesel that make the film a loss on many levels.
The weakest film in the franchise for sure.
This movie in my opinion far surpassed what the first one was supposed to be. It was more like one story that interconnected 2 links, racing and the case at hand. If compared to the first one, yes, this one is better,...way better. The first one ended up being a lesson on how to become a so-called "real" street racer. The first one actually gave wannabes the excuse to become true posers. All it was was a movie that should have been called, "The True How To Become A Street Racer" when in reality all it was was a waste of money. They actually thought that they were part of Vin's team and that they were real street racers. Sorry but just because you can get your hands on a Euro doesn't make you a racer, that alone just makes you a poser in training. Knowing what to do in the situation proves your knowledge...(and that doesn't mean that you only have to know how to push the accelerator or brake) This movie though, part 2 was actually more about the case than about the racing. The racing was just used as it should have been used in the first film, just as an incentive of how you can use a machine like that to your advantage. It wasn't about how to be a racer. Now for the true heads out there that actually are racers, I can see how you may like or dislike both films, you're one of them, but to a poser...I'm sorry but you might as well just leave it to your imagination. That's the least that you have on your side.
2F2F, under the cut-to-the-chase direction of John Singleton, strips the package known as the Mindless Summer Movie down to its barest components of wheels, skin, and a pulsing soundtrack.
The homepage of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) listed the DVD of 2 Fast 2 Furious with a 12A rating in such cut and with a 15 rating in its uncut version. Unfortunately, the 15-rated DVD is cut as well. The UK DVD uses alternative footage for two short shots of Brian putting away his gun and of Enrique, Brian and Roman are kicking Enrique more often in the uncut version. a5c7b9f00b
