9 Nov 2015 I have been reading Wizard of the Coast's new D&D Book: Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG), and overall I really like it. It can give a player ideas about their background and rumors that they may have heard. For the player, there is just enough detail to use in their character background story.
Crafted by the scribes at Green Ronin in conjunction with the Dungeons & Dragons team at Wizards of the Coast, the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide provides D&D fans with a .. As it stands there are some interesting and useful ideas in the classes and backgrounds, but that counts for a very small percentage of the book.

It's a 20-page whirlwind tour of thirty-some years like in the realms, with scattered nuggets of game mechanics customizing specific classes, a few alternate racial mechanics, and a trove of backgrounds.
Every story has a beginning. Your character's background reveals where you came from, how you became an adventurer, and your place in the world.
