A Foreign Service Officer in London tries to prevent a terrorist attack set to hit New York City, but is forced to go on the run when she is framed for crimes she did not commit.
Entrusted with the task of spotting any potential terrorists and chemical specialists who try to get a visa, Kate Abbott, the genius newly-recruited security officer at the U.S. Embassy in London, senses there's something off with the Romanian doctor, Emil Balan; however, her concerns are dismissed by her boss. But, then, after a devastating bombing attack in the heart of the city, Kate will surprisingly find herself in the spotlight and on the wrong side of the law, while at the same time, targeted by the international assassin known only as the Watchmaker. Can Kate unearth the conspiracy and make it in one piece before a new act of terrorism strikes the metropolis?
Great cast, however this movie is more predictable than sunrise. What a shame as it has all the ingredients for a wonderful spy/action flick.
There were far too many simple mistakes within the first 10 minutes that set the tone for the rest of the movie. For example always a favorite of mine is the Satellite phone being used inside a building - they need a clear view of the sky to work. Other examples are blocked out of my memory thankfully.
I wonder if Pierce knew how dumb and lazy this movie was before he signed on.
I would write less in this review if IMDb would let me for this review because I have already wasted enough time on this silly movie. The only reason for writing this review is to save you from making the same poor decision I made.
Trust me, don't waste your time.
Kate Abbott (Milla Jovovich) is a top security investigator who has been recently assigned to the US embassy in London. When she comes across a suspicious request, she delays a VISA. This delayed VISA means she must be eliminated. An assassin known as the Watchmaker (Pierce Brosnan) is being paid big bucks to do the task.
The film was a big cat and mouse chase with everyone after Kate Abbott. While she makes the film as exciting as possible, she is no Jason Bourne. I would have liked to seen the roles reversed with Pierce as the good guy and Mila as the assassin dressed in black leather and spiked heels. It wouldn't be as real, but a bit more entertaining for us simple folk.
The theme of the film is that law enforcement have been "doing their job" behind the scenes to prevent attacks, that we don't know anything about. Paid for by the Committee to Renew the Patriot Act.
Guide 2-3 F-bombs. No sex or nudity.
The filmmaker should perhaps thank his actors for putting in more effort than this movie is worth.
