This weekend I'm heading up to Island lake in the uintas. It is the Island lake that you get to by hiking from the crystal lake trailhead. I want to get some fishing in but last time I went here I had little success. I hear long lake (on the trail in) might be better for catching brook trout. Does anybody know anything

Island Lake Trail is a 8.4 mile out and back trail located near Kamas, Utah that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, fishing, horses, and backpacking and is best used from June until October. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. DISTANCE. 8.4 miles. Keep going a little farther and you'll descend to Fire Lake, where fishing can be fast at times. The lake doesn't get too much pressure, since it is situated in steep, rocky terrain; camping opportunities are virtually nonexistent.
