George and Harold are two imaginative pranksters who make the depressing Jerome Horwitz School a better place. They hypnotize their nemesis, the mean-spirited principal Mr. Krupp. He transforms into the incredibly clueless yet kind-hearted and enthusiastic superhero named Captain Underpants. Even without the mean principal, they discover that having Captain Underpants comes at a steep price. Meanwhile, Professor Poopypants tries to eliminate laughter with the school snitch Melvin, and George and Harold discover that there may be more to Mr. Krupp than they had originally thought.
utterly hilarious, brilliantly funny, edge of my seat funny, rib hurtingly funny, great comedy, great animation, great laughter, as good as the books, brilliant family fun and laughter they better do a Captain Underpants 2, I couldn't stop laughing, the screen was full of joyful laughter.
Based of the books by Dav Pikey, we meet George Beard (Kevin Hart) and Harrold Hutchins (Thomas Middleditch), George is the one with the short hair and tie, and Harold is the one with the striped shirt and bad hair cut. The dynamic duo of best friends, performing various pranks on their grumpy principle Mr Krupp (Ed Helms), bringing laughter to their fellows students as they attend their concentration camp of a school, and bringing life to their cartoon superhero Captain Underpants. However when their friendship is in jeopardy by Krupp's plans to separate them, they accidentally hypnotise their miserable principle and turn him into their waste band warrior, meanwhile Doctor Poopypants arrives with a plot to rid the world of laughter.
From the outset, this childish dream is immature, but that's the whole point, a chance to connect with the inner child in all of us. This makes this a perfect animated comical and comic illustration of the ridiculous and hilarious adventures of Captain Underpants. Directed by David Soren and distributed by DreamWorks its easy to see the fun that the makers must have had bringing this literature to the screen.
The story of Captain Underpants is funny, fresh and frantic, playing with format and genre, adding meta, self-reflective winks. The film is propelled by its hyperactive energy and quirky style...and the combustible chemistry between the two leads.
