Book descriptionThis ACT Review may not be a book to some, and most would never dare to call it a novel. However, I spent day in and day out this summer scanning each and every word of this book for dear life, sometimes to the point of utter exhaustion. Therefore, I found it completely acceptable to review a book I have spent hours with weekly, as I am well informed and hold unique opinions on its material. Firstly, I believe the people in charge of creating and choosing the readings of the ACT are very intelligent people, mainly because they chose to use one of each of the following diverse, challenging, yet potential relatable subjects in each test: Prose fiction (such as tale of a football team, lessons one can learn from the wilderness, and many adaptations of stories and novels), social science (such as American influences abroad, polio, and Lewis and Clark ), humanities (such as Arfisfi, mythology, and William Faulkner) and Natural Science (such as heredity and gene-linkage, eating habits of related primates, and dark matter within the universe). As shown, ACT provides a vast range - present, past, excerpts from famous novels, accurate historical events, and so forth. Never have I read a passage that wasnt filled with diverse sentence structure, beautiful vocabulary, and to make things all the better, I am VERY rarely uninterested in the subjects discussed. Where the reading test of the ACT exam, in my opinion, surpasses that of the SAT exam is this: In order to have a chance of getting any of the answers right that follow the passage, one MUST read the entire thing and read it carefully, a skill I think is much more important than the skill of scanning and rushing through grammar-related questions in order to simply finish the test on time. I say this because the ACTs well-worded, diverse questions afterwards do not ask of vocabulary mistakes or sentence structure errors (like the SAT), but simply ask of the meaning and CONTENT of the passage just read. Shouldnt colleges want to see how well a student reads and gathers information? ACT has another portion of their test focused on grammar, vocabulary, and such, so now, in the READING portion, is the perfect time to focus on reading comprehension- and they seem to have done a fabulous job coming up with just the right formula to do so.McGraw-Hills 10 ACT Practice Tests by Steven Dulan without registering free english ebook ipad
