re: long sword / great sword guide. rajang armor is great sword armor, it is usable for longsword but i sugget Silver Sol Z armor cause of ESP ( attacks won't bounce) defense is slightly higher than rajang armor. BTW by guide i ment like if you are having trouble with a monster i would help you out and give
I've played Monster Hunter since Tri (played a bit of MHFU, but never seriously) and have really enjoyed using LS. finally be in the middle of a well timed, actually hitting something Hammer combo to only be tripped by a long sword sweep or a Dual Blades charging stab before the 3rd swing can happen.

24 Feb 2014 Long Swords are the quicker cousin of the Great Sword. Also, the Bone Katana path that leads to this weapon is great to use while going through Low Rank. The more raw oriented Fire LS, so much so that it rivals Tormentor and Supremacy Blade in damage.

The longsword's infinite combo is a good way to deal out damage when you have a small opening or don't have the ability to pull of a spirit combo, also remember that you have the fade slash use it.
