I highly recommend making full use of wisp powers as most red star rings absolutely require them (to either obtain the ring or reach the path with the ring). Might I also suggest the community hunt down people who make Youtube LPs of this game to do a video guide for the rings, as there is already a 100% guide on

I also screwed this up, so I used the quake route along with some well-timed Super Sonic jumps to obtain that one as well. Dang, I thought the point of collecting all the red rings was to unlock Super Sonic. Guess I'll focus on the terrible special stages for now instead. That's only in the Wii version.
