I've been towing with a '90 light duty 3/4 ton (350/ granny 4 speed) chev and I'm sick of it, not the towing ability but it is falling apart and I'm ready for something newer. I'm a manual trans guy and chevy never offered a 5.3/ 5 speed truck though there are some 4.8/5 speed trucks out there in my price range.
ok, i got a 2004 chevy regular cab with the 4.8L V8 and the NV3500 manual 5 speed transmission. The only problem is that the tranny is only rated to like 285
There's a ton of useful information on here but most people are running automatic transmissions. It wasn't clear how much these 4.8's with a manual will gain from doing a PCM tune, whether the ones with a manual have torque management, and whether the tuner will allow you to turn it off. Conversions & Hybrids - 4.8 Manual trans flywheel confusion - Need some help. I'm using a 2002 4.8 w/ BW super T10 4 speed in a 61 Corvette, but.
I have a 5.3 bolted to a bell in mockup in a rig, having one hell of a time finding parts and information on what Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate would work. 5.3 has the option of manual trans, but far as i can tell nobody lists it. I found a 4.8 flywheel, but so far no information if that is the same? I assume it is
