Kim challenges many villains, while dealing with interesting social issues.
"Kim Possible" is about a high-school cheerleader who, with the help of her best friend Ron Stoppable and his pet Naked Mole Rat Rufus, saves the world from various comical villains and still finds time to be a relatively normal girl with crushes, extracurricular activities, and high-school rivals.
Well, we all have to admit, Disney's "Kim Possible" may not be the best of all series, but it sure has some good action that should satisfy young viewers. Though the true reason I think this show is not as good as others is not because it has a sentimental female star but because the show lacks depth.
Our female star Kim, as her title song says, is a basic average girl with teenage crushes and the old 'love at first sight' act and many people should be able to accept that and not use it as a reason to why this show is not so good. If every show had a male star, it would be the same old cliche 'man comes to save the damsels in distress' story again and again with always the man in the lead and I think Disney's attempt to create a female action hero is satisfying to our female audience. Instead of a typical female having a female sidekick, having a male sidekick like Ron for a change is something quite different, and for once, the female can take a stand.
I believe this is one of Disney's ways to prove that girls can be just as powerful as guys and can be what they are and not pretend to be invincible and "too good for the opposite sex" typical male action hero. Even though "Kim Possible's" story line is not the greatest, I'm hopeful and positive that the show will improve itself over time. So Kim, keep it up, and show those boys we can be just as good!!!
I was reading an article about Spongebob Squarepants in the June ChannelGuide when I glanced to the right side of the open pages. I stared in puzzlement at the style of art in the pic displaying a promotional screenshot for some new show, unable to decide if it was some cheap Anime imitation or something entirely different, then read the article. Personally, the first time through reading it and with it as my first Kim Possible exposure, I thought it sounded kind of lame. Especially the naked mole rat part; my pet peev (literally!) in any cartoon or animated movie are the little anthropomorphism animals. BUT, at the same time, I was intrigued, as they were vehement about getting a high-school audience. Anyway, I watched it on the premiere. I enjoyed it fairly well my first viewing: it seemed to have enough mature elements for me to like, and ample high-school `drama' to relate to, and the main characters were likable..enough. I thought Kim was a tad too airheadish, and it didn't help that she was a cheerleader, and Ron's antics were basically repeated over and over, each time under different circumstances and with slight variations, and Rufus...uh, you know.
Come the next few episodes, however, I grew to tolerate the protagonists..meanwhile, the antagonists are certainly the strongest part of this show. This fast-paced comedy is nothing without the zany..and rather pathetic villains- "pathetic" is a pro, by the way. For > example, Drakken in "Tick-Tick-Tick"? His motive is revenge on the kids who made fun of him in gym class or something to that effect. And what about his sarcastic sidekick Shego? Ha! The humor is quick-witted and clever, the dialogue is littered with amusing and ironic interjections, and the writers certainly capture high-school life. "Animology" is a rather insightful fad... In any case, this truly is an achievement for the folks at Disney.
9/10: I never give 10's.
