Apocalypse, the world's first mutant, reunites some powerful mutants of his. Now, with the help of Raven/Mystique, Professor Charles Xavier and many other mutants, all of them must fight to save their world from destruction. Also, they must regain Magneto after he becomes forced in by Apocalypse.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Professor X must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
Days of future past was my favorite of the series so far. It was confusing as hell but at the end they managed to deliver a good movie with good explanations. Because of that i had some high expectations about the newest one to the family X-Men: Apocalypse. But was i ever so disappointed. This is by far the worst superhero movie came out this year. (Yes including the dawn of justice) It was easily predictable, had way too many clichés and cameos, didn't have much of a story,.. just plain bad. And the most disappointing thing for me was how they handled Magnito. He's put through the same thing all over. Quicksilver part was alright i guess.. Felt repeated. (and if he did all that he could've easily stopped Stryker team yea?) But all that heat aside, i'll admit i'm a fan and i enjoyed seeing my favorite heroes fight. I should give credits to the CGI team as well. Seeing jean turn into phoenix was awesome. It was just right there on the table but still. And those 5 minutes with wolverine in it was the best bit from the whole movie. For me at least. Just for those i'll mark 3 stars. Other than that, Disappointed.
In the lead up to the release of X Men Apocalypse I was aware that there was going to be an uphill struggle coming of the back of First Class and Days of Future Past, two films that I consider to be masterpieces while this is not a bad film it's not all that great and I was very disappointed. However there is still plenty of good in this film, all the performances in this film are all still as good, James McAvoy adds a more experienced and wiser aspect to his Xavier this time around, Fassbender gives the greatest performance in this film he is such a damaged person in this film and it really added to his character motivations and arc. Oscar Isaac was really good in this film he was very menacing and sunk himself right into the character. I liked seeing all of the original characters back together as younger versions they all were fun characters who were close to their future selves. The relationship between Xavier and Eric has been a major crutch of the last two films and this one doesn't focus on it as much but when it does it's done just as well. The eventual final fight against Apocalypse was great, much more epic in scale than the other films in the franchise, the cerebral aspect of Xavier fighting Apocalypse inside his mind was brilliantly executed and the set up for Dark Phoenix was done very well. Quicksilver is back again, just as good as he was in Days of Future Past, it was nice to see him get an expanded role in this film and merged perfectly into the team. My biggest issues with this film come from the script, the films pacing is pretty awful, most of the first half is just set up for the rest of the film and did bore me quite a bit and times. Apocalypse was also not a very good villain, his motivations were extremely conventional, his powers were never fleshed out and his suit was terrible. All the villains except for Magneto are just throw away thugs essentially who add nothing to the plot of this film. The cameo from Wolverine itself was amazing to see but you get the hint that the entire strikers island sequence was done just for that cameo.
In terms of spectacle, visuals and performances this film is brilliant but the script was this films major downfall, it's pacing is terrible, the villains are bland with no real motivation and fails to build on and improve plot threads and character developments that were set up in the past films.

The issue with X-Men: Apocalypse is that Bryan Singer suggests so many possible directions to go in and still chooses the least interesting one.
One can say both. X-Men: Apocalypse is a reboot as it takes place in a reset timeline due to the events of the previous film X-Men: Days of Future Past. The timeline goes back to the origins of the mutants with younger versions of the X-Men. It is also a sequel due to taking place after the main events in Days of Future Past, which took place in the 1970s and most of the cast of First Class and Days of Future Past have returned. No. Shortly before the film movie was released, Bryan Singer announced that X-Men: Apocalypse and the then-upcoming third Wolverine film (Hugh Jackman's last role as Wolverine) would be the final chapters of his X-Men film franchise. However, the studio had a number of other films planned. Among them, It is rumoured that one is or would be titled "X-Force". It is uncertain if the film will be canon and will be apart of the cinematic X-Men universe. Though rumour has it the film after the next will be set in the 1990s, with the current cast. So, perhaps Bryan Singer will step down as director if the series continues. Yes, there is. He does indeed lose his hair near the end of the film, so the film's poster is truthful in a sense even if slightly misleading. Excluding ones that came out after Apocalypse, there are nine: X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverwine (2009), X: First Class (2011), The Wolverine (2013), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), Deadpool (2016) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). a5c7b9f00b
