When you purchased your new Brother sewing machine, it most likely came with one or two needles to help get you started. For most tasks, these universal needles will serve you well. However, depending on the type of project you are working on, changing the needle can make sewing easier and more efficient.
10 May 2013 When you use the pattern selection dial to choose a pattern, raise the needle by turning the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) so that the mark on the wheel points up. If the needle is in the down position when you turn the pattern selection dial, the needle, presser foot or fabric may be damaged.
Even though the thread tension dial is set to the Standard/Basic setting, it may need to be adjusted depending on the combination of fabric, thread and needles being used. Make sure you use a bobbin that is best suited for your machine. The first 2-4 stitches of a seam may become weak.Sew reverse/reinforcement stitches
