WUTHERING HeiGHTS
When I first heard the voice on your english-tape reading ‘wuthering Heights’ from our book, telling us the whole story about of Heathcliff and Catherine, in a short version, I could´t imagine how the movie would be like.
And I had never thought it would be like it was.
Even if I had my own ideas of how I maybe would film it, if I was the mother of the film....
Actually, I didn´t realize that the movie was based on the book (or at least the review of it), because they booth were so different from each other!!
So, once again I found myself very surprised and confused about the magic of living pictures (movies) and printed words (books).
The feelings and states of minds they tought me were also very different.
Sadly, I missed the other half of the movie; but Sarah retold me it in a very short version.
´´the girl died, and there were dogs hanging in the trees everywere´´ It was slow and they didn´t say much at all. And, she wasn´t so fond of the dogs in the trees, she also said.
And just that second, I thought it seemed so familiar with dogs in trees in some way, but I couldn´t remember more.
But, NOW, in this very moment I remembered the memory, or the reality perhaps.
Because, exacly four sentenses away from my hand are our shining christmas tree standing, with branches filled of small santas, glitter, twinkeling stars, colourful christmastree-decorations, teddybears, small seahorses, mushrooms and.....dogs!!
Yes, our tree is filled with small glassdogs!
You see, dogs have always been a very big interest here, and sometimes even like a wonderful obsession, so, the dogs have lived in this tree for a long time now, moving around when the first snow is falling.
And the pack grows bigger and bigger every winter.
Sometimes, when I am lying in my bed I can hear them barking to each other, and sometimes our little dog Mitzi answeres them.
If they talk very loud it can be really hard to sleep, but in the other way, you never need to be alone when the dark falls and swallows every lost soul in it´s way.
Anyway, back to the movie again.
I actually liked the nice nature- freedom- animal- scenes in the beginning.
They were very nice, and it was like they were saying ´´come to me. please, come now.´´
It felt like beeing there in the film (or at least in the enviroment were this film was born).
But in my opinion it was kind of slow.
A little bit too slow, sometimes.
It could have been a nice and beautiful film, and I really think it was sometimes, with a touch of creeepy feelings and mystic. The slow movements and all the small and nice details in the film make it interesting, and catch you in it´s hands.
Neather of the caracters spoke so much.
In the text I got the feeling that they talked very much with each other (at least the maid).
And maybe the movie was so quiet because I couldn´t find the maid in the movie, or not in the first part.
So it´s very interesting to see how different a book and a movie can appeare, and it was...fashinating!!!
And all the nice animals caught my eyes and soul before I slowly passed over to the world of dreams...
Nice and slowly....
Until my eyes fell asleep..
