Watching from my window upstairs
Praying they won't see
The smoke that fills my lungs
And then lingers around our oldest oak tree
Oh, how bad it hurts trying to mend
All hearts except my own
Why can't my hand always be in yours
To tell you you'll never walk alone
I could stop the rain rolling from your eyes
I could be your glue
If that's the only way
To repair you
In this moment
All I can recall
Is you whispering
'You can't save them all'
But trust me
Soon we all will look back on these days
Saying
'Man, they were so GAY!'
And though you might take this one all wrong
I just had to tell you,
Life is more than just a lovesong.
Praying they won't see
The smoke that fills my lungs
And then lingers around our oldest oak tree
All hearts except my own
Why can't my hand always be in yours
To tell you you'll never walk alone
I could be your glue
If that's the only way
To repair you
All I can recall
Is you whispering
'You can't save them all'
Soon we all will look back on these days
Saying
'Man, they were so GAY!'
I just had to tell you,
Life is more than just a lovesong.
