This movie inspired by the animated series, BATMAN BEYOND, finds Batman facing his greatest adversary The Joker, only problem is that the original Batman, Bruce Wayne already took care of him years ago. So the new Batman, Terry McGinnis has to find out how is this possible and to do that he has to find out what happened only problem is that Bruce doesn't want to talk about it.
The Joker is back with a vengeance, and Gotham's newest Dark Knight needs answers as he stands alone to face Gotham's most infamous Clown Prince of Crime.
This movie is awesome, this isn't for child's (i've seen the uncut edition) this one is for somebody, that grow up with the animated series, and understand the magnitude of the situation, my god... the part where the jokers been killed its one of the mos awesome and darker scenes i've ever seen in a cartoon, and believe me, its a great death scene for the joker, it isn't a cheap death, and the las words..."thats not funny"... wooooo awesome lines, and there's the part where he tell batman that he know everything, such an evil character! "behind all the sturm and batarangs you're just a child in a play-suit crying for mommy and daddy" AWESOME LINE, if you like the animated series, and you like to think like me... to see the last episode of that series... to me this is it!, the only thing that i didn't like was... why the joker was still alive... c'mon they should put that robin had a two personality problem (it doesn't matter if it was like the ventriloquist!!!) or something like that! not a few of dna and a microchip! thats the only thing i didn't like but it was still awesome you really should go and see it you don't need to see the batman beyond series, just watch the movie and enjoy
By far the best of the animated Batman features, and even puts both the animated series to shame, with its complexity and depth of story. I have had the unique opportunity to see the unedited version as well as the final dvd release; and while the cuts/changes made for the release do, sort of, diminish the emotional impact, I fully understand why they were made. Kudos to the entire staff, as well as the composer, who managed to carry on Shirley Walker's excellent work on the music for both series and the features.
"Batman Beyond" takes place about 40 years after the "New Batman Adventures" series. At the time of the show's release a precise date was given as 2039. Meaning Bruce Wayne quit being Batman in 2019 (as seen in ''Rebirth''). This also means the episode, ''Epilogue'' takes place in the year 2056. Terry McGinnis himself has a given birth-date of 2023.
Due to a political uproar against violence in animated movies at that time Warner Bros. canceled the release and edited the movie to a version that was then released worldwide. In the beginning of 2001 the original and uncensored version was released in the USA, on top of that in Anamorphic Widescreen while earlier releases had been only presented in Fullscreen. a5c7b9f00b
