29 Mar 2004 Ranger & B-Series - Changing Fluid In M5OD 5 Speed Manual Transmission - I'm typing this up to let you guys know what and what not to do when.
I have a 93 4.9 5 speed f150. Going to be doing a lot of maintance to it soon. First thing I've noticed on cold mornings my truck doesn't shift into 2nd as smooth as when its warm. The trans fluid has never been changed by me and I'm hoping fresh fluid would help. I've also found a fuel leak at my rear tank,

Your truck should have a Mazda-built 5 speed, referred to as an M5R2 (sometimes as an "M5OD"). It takes the common automatic transmission fluid labeled in the parts stores (and WalMart) as "Mercon/Dexron III".
