I came across this show on Netflix recently and instantly enjoyed this Sherlock Holmes of the western. Robert Taylor is absolutely perfect in this role of Sheriff Longmire, man of few words who doesn't miss a clue. NetFlix picked up this show and released season 4 on 9/10/2015.The supporting cast and story line keeps this show interesting show after show. Katee Sackoff and Lou Diamond Phillips are spot on and good to see them in a quality show. Minor characters played by Cassidy Stevens, Adam Bartly and Gerald McRaney add texture to a show that is set in Wyoming but beautifully filmed in New Mexico near Santa Fe. Grab some popcorn and bing watch this show, you won't be able to stop until its done!
I entirely agree with the review I read. Being a fan of Mr Johnson's novels,I was looking forward to watching the series. I've only watched Season 1 so far, as the others aren't available in France yet. Don't misunderstand me, it's a great series, if you haven't read the novels. The actors are good. But where's Longmire's love of Nature? Where's Wyoming, by the way? Why was it mostly filmed in New Mexico? I am well aware that no film can be entirely faithful to a novel, however I can't help wondering why the stories were changed to a point you can hardly identify them most of the time, apart from some similarities to The Cold Dish in Season 1's last episode. Apart from Walt and Ruby, there isn't a single character from the books who is recognizable except by name.
All in all, a big disappointment. However, I recommend it to viewers who like thriller series as long as they haven't read the books. I may change my point of view when and if I watch Season 2 and 3.
