Jag var besatt av listor.
Jag var besatt av hur väl jag lyckats och vart jag skall,
mina diplom, mina skor, mina bedrifter och charm.
Jag undrade vilka resor jag skulle göra
och undrade om de flickor jag skulle få på fall.
Jag ville känna den väg jag skulle vandra med de steg jag skulle ta
och vilka tankar jag skulle tänka om de mål jag skulle ha
innan jag fått dem.
Jag ville ha levt.
Så jag levde inte.
Så jag dog.
Jag vaknade och vill vandra barfota
från solig senvår till rödgul höst,
se fler solnedgångar,
bada naken i gömda sjöar och
sova mot en flickas bröst.
Jag vill bry mig mindre om mitt yttre
och handskas med verkliga besvär
Jag vill diskutera filosofi med våra äldre
och fotografera barn och fråga vad deras drömmar är.
Jag vill känna liv och dess lycka och sorg
jag vill vara ung och bli gammal
och baka bröd, åka till Paris och smaka frukt
från stadens och folkets torg
utan en tanke på att jag en dag är död.
