A smart, beautiful young woman lives in a world where select people born with an extreme skill -- called a Grace -- are feared and exploited.
Throughout the Seven Kingdoms some people are born with what is known as a Grace. Those who are Graced are exceptionally skilled but each unique and specialized; some can swim like a fish while others can run faster than anyone else. Katsa, niece of King Randa of the Middluns, was born with the Grace of killing. She killed her first time at age 8 and since then has been trained as Randa's own special weapon. Disgusted by the acts she is forced to commit and her growing reputation as a monster, Katsa works in secret with a handful of trusted friends to spare the innocent citizens from the wrath of the many corrupt kings of the Seven Kingdoms. One mission leads her to rescue an old man, Grandfather of the Lienid Royal family, and it sets the course for change for Katsa. She teams up with one of the Lienid princes and begins to unravel a deep and unsettling mystery about one of the Kingdoms.
