18 Nov 2011 Yes, you can link to specific pages by number or named locations and that will always work if the user's browser uses Adobe Reader as plugin for viewing PDF files. For a specific page by number: Link text. For a named location (destination):
Created the bookmark in a Word document. Added that bookmark as a bookmark when creating the PDF using Adobe Acrobat. I tried doing a standard bookmark hyperlink (e.g., DataDefinitions.PDF#HPI Metrics) but the PDF just opens without going to the specific place within the PDF that has the relevant content.
Select the Reference Type (in this case, Heading, but you can also link to bookmarks or other items) and select the heading you would like to link to. Make sure that INSERT AS HYPERLINK is selected. Also, make sure that HEADING TEXT is selected under “INSERT REFERENCE TO."

The bookmarks show up in Adobe Acrobat when I open the pdf. I then created another Word document where I want to insert the hyperlink. I highlighted the text that I want to be the hyperlink, clicked insert a hyperlink, and chose the pdf file that I mentioned above.
