Thirty years after the events of Evil Dead, Ash is a loner, living a dull existence, still not able to come to grips with the events that started at the cabin. In the event of a Deadite invasion, Ash must attach his chainsaw and pick up his trusty boomstick one more time, all while finally coming to terms with his past.
Ash has spent the last thirty years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead until a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind and Ash becomes mankind's only hope.
The show itself is definitely headed down the right path. Instead of the gritty drama shows that we're used to like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones, this show has a lighter mood to it. It's not that there isn't moments of danger and suspense, but the overall strength of this show is in its ability to play off itself and bring a playful tone to this genre of TV show.
The show does a great job of filling you in on the events that happened in the movie. It takes place 30 years after what happened in The Evil Dead and it's definitely good enough to be a stand-alone show all by itself. It delivers plenty of gore, jump scares, and funny moments and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite shows to watch. The Deadites (monsters in the show) designs look really amazing. Only a few of them look silly at times, but most of the deadites look incredibly intimidating and nightmare inducing.
For a show like this, I'm glad to say that the story is actually very entertaining. I definitely recommend you give this show a chance. It won't to appeal to everyone, but you won't know unless you watch it.
I am at a loss for words... they should have sent a poet. I specifically just signed up so I can express my unequivocal support for this work of art. Bruce you a God. LONG LIVE ASH!!!!!! The dialogue was superb, the fx magnificent and it all adds up to the perfect continuation of a cult classic. I didn't even realize that I had a hole in my life until today... a hole ladies and gentlemen that only ash and the evil dead could fill. LoL. I look forward to this show going on for years until they have to drag Bruce's geriatric ass to the set and push cocaine down his throat to make one more episode. Again, hats off and congratulations on a masterpiece. ENCORE!! ENCORE!! ENCORE!!!!!!!
The show follows Evil Dead 1 and 2. Evil Dead 2 is referenced the most. Army Of Darkness is never referenced due to rights issues. It could be said that the events still happened, but Ash never bothers mentioning his travelling through time because nobody ever believed him. In the original Evil Dead, Ash throws the book of the dead into the fireplace, it appears to burn and destroy the remaining two deadites. However if you watch the scene closely, you see while the book reacts to fire, we never see it actually being destroyed. The book's eyes open and a tongue extends from it and that's the last we see of it. In Evil Dead 2, the Necronomicon is seen sitting on a table, Ash briefly reads from it and then it isn't seen again (although the first 7 minutes of Evil Dead 2 are supposed to be recap and not exactly canon) for the rest of the film, they use the lost pages of the book. a5c7b9f00b
