Speeding Through Haskell (PDF). Arya Popescu. Speeding Through Haskell is incomplete, but still contains a lot of valuable information. Rather, it is intended to serve as a supplement to the Haskell Report [4], which is otherwise a rather dense technical exposition. Our goal is to provide a gentle introduction to Haskell for someone who has experience
and aim of that book and this tutorial are very different). This tutorial is not for begin- ning programmers; some experience and knowledge of programming and computers is assumed (though the appendix does contain some background information). The Haskell language underwent a standardization process and the result
common to modern programming languages including Haskell. Assuming you've completed your installation, you should be able to open your terminal or command prompt, type ghci or stack ghci1, hit enter, and see something like the following: GHCi, version 7.10.3: www.haskell.org/ghc/ :? for help. Prelude>.
But then once it just “clicked" and after getting over that initial hurdle, it was pretty much smooth sailing. I guess what I'm trying to say is: Haskell is great and if you're interested in programming you should really learn it even if it seems weird at first. Learning Haskell is much like learning to program for the first time — it's fun!
