First flick your lens AF switch to 'off'. There's a link below to show a lens manually set on 'true' infinity. You'll notice the ? symbol is off to the right. I believe there's an overshoot built into all Canon AF lenses. This is to accommodate an infrared setting; deal with thermal expansion/contraction of the lens
