Without an esc, your motor would just do nothing or go full throttle when you wanted to drive. Brushed motors are cheap but very ineffecient and lact power. The ESC's are also cheaper.
With this guide, I hope to break down all the terms and concepts that you need to know to get started with electric RC cars. I am far from an expert Most cars come with non-rebuildable motors (often called "cans") which are sealed and must be replaced when they wear down. BL motors are faster and

Basically a brushless Pretty much all brushed motors are cheaper than brushless that's why they are what most RC cars come with. In short, if you
Some servo or motor controller connectors have a small plastic tab on them, and can therefore only be used with RC car receivers that can easily be removed with They switch power between the three combinations of two of the three poles of a brushless motor, and modulate the speed of this according to the PPM signal.
29 Aug 2013 Everything You Need to Know About How to Choose the Perfect Brushless RC Motor (Car, Helicopter and Boat) As a guide, a good KV rating for a 1:10 scale brushless buggy or 400mm race/sport balanced speedboat motor is 3300KV – a smaller or more on-road/racing-focussed model will want a higher
Brushless Speed Ratings Unlike brushed motors, springs and brushes will not be a consideration with a brushless motor. If you are fairly new to RC, you may want to get a motor lower in rating so it'll be more fun and easy to drive. Be sure to review the manual that came with your speed control to find specifications.
