6 Nov 2017 In 2015, the American Heart Association (AHA) published the “2015 AHA Guide- lines Update for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular. Care" including recommendations for adult basic life support (BLS) and cardiopul- monary resuscitation (CPR) quality.1 That guidelines update
The rescuer should continue compression-only CPR until an AED arrives and is ready for use or EMS providers take over care of the victim. All trained lay rescuers should, at a minimum, provide chest compressions for victims of cardiac arrest.
Latest AHA Guidelines Changes. The AHA guidelines "strongly recommend" that untrained / lay responders perform "compression-only" CPR, sometimes known as CCR. However, medical professionals and trained lay people are still urged to give the victim two "rescue breaths" in between each series of 30 chest compressions.
