It shifts into 2nd fine but 3rd and 4th feels like neutral. With a no 3rd or 4th gear complaint I would bet that you have lost what is referred to as the 3-4 clutch. HTH Vince . Make sure it seals as described in ATSG manual.
1 Sep 2011 You say no 3rd or 4th gears does the trans stay in 2nd gear and no further to see if the PCM is commanding the shift to 3rd gear would help.
25 Jun 2013 Just did a rebuild on a 4L60E transmission. Then, suddenly, I lost third and fourth gear. There was no slipping or other indication of a problem, and it still doesn't feel like a Manually shifting doesn't make any difference.

There is no way it can work in 1st and 2nd, but not allow 3rd or 4th. .. I tried manually shifting from 2nd to D, and allowing the trans to shift itself

25 Apr 2009 Rebuilt trans now has no 3rd or 4th gear. Log In I have tried manually shifting it but it wont go past second. . 98 = 4L60E == no governor.
My trans shifts from 1st to and but not to 3rd or 4th. It has never gave into 4th gear. I just recently purchased an ATSG 4L60E manual in PDF format for $25.00.
