The lesson is that you are existentially alone. It points to a feeling of bleak isolation you get often just before you go to sleep; that you are alone.
The only uncertainty in life is that which exists in your own mind, since that is the only mind to exist. All the others might as well know all the answers, since their autonomous existence and uncertainty cannot be perceived.
