A Las Vegas magician who can see into the future is pursued by FBI agents seeking to use his abilities to prevent a nuclear terrorist attack.
Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson has a secret which torments him: he can see a few minutes into the future. Sick of the examinations he underwent as a child and the interest of the government and medical establishment in his power, he lies low under an assumed name in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling "winnings." But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.
Fun movie, just WAY to many holes. Characters show up with little explanation of why they are there. WE are given little to no explanation of the terrorists or what they really want, they just appear to fill in the movie. The story progresses with little reason and meaning. Just time passing. Don't watch this movie if you want to think. Park your brain and enjoy.
Julianne Moore delivers the best cliché lines to date as Agent Callie Ferris. Horrid acting and just all bad.
Nicolas Cage needs to READ these scripts before he signs on. I want his NEXT movie to be better.
Next is a great idea for a film, but this crew blew it.
I mean, the rest of the cast of Next is great: Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore... That makes you want to see the film.
But then you see the trailer and you see Jessica Biel's unmoving face. Her complete lack of talent and of any charisma makes it impossible to believe that anyone caring about quality would hire her.
Ergo, you telegraph to the audience by hiring Biel that this movie is not worth seeing.
The bad special effects also don't help. Someone needs to tell Hollywood that the audience doesn't want to see all-CGI effects all the time. It just looks like a cartoon and is not creative.
Same for Jessica Biel.
This implausible action thriller also stars Julianne Moore as an FBI agent who sees Cage's two-bit Vegas act and decides he can single-handedly save the world.
The Golden Man a lot but the 2 main differences is that the book is set in a post-Apocalyptic america and the enemies are mutants not terrorists a5c7b9f00b
