The first method: You will need a tapestry needle and waste yarn. Thread the needle with the yarn and draw it through every stitch on your work being careful not to thread any stitch markers if there are any. Once all your stitches have been secured, leave the lifeline in place.
There is nothing more annoying then having to rip back, get saved by the lifeline, getting all the stitches back on the needle, having counted to make sure you have them all, only to discover that you have no idea whether you are on row 20 or 24.
