She summons the hit-man Deadshot; The Joker's girlfriend and former psychiatrist Harley Quinn; the pyrokinetic Diablo; the bank thief Captain Boomerang; the mutant Killer Croc; the criminal Slipknot; and the witch Enchantress who possessed the former archaeologist, June Moone, to form Task Force X. Waller also assigns the command of the team to Colonel Rick Flag, who is in love with June. To convince the group to obey orders, a nanite bomb is implanted in the neck of each member. When Enchantress releases her powerful brother, they besiege Midway City turning the residents into an army of monsters and building a powerful weapon. Meanwhile, the Joker is plotting a plan to rescue his beloved Harley Quinn.Admit it, you want to like this movie. Even if you never heard of Suicide Squad prior to the trailer's unveiling at Comic-Con, it just looked like a winner. Then came the reviews last week
Headlines have denigrated Suicide Squad for all manner of politicized reasons. It has been labeled as misogynist, racist, and morally vapid. I simply do not agree. You do not need to stand on a soapbox of social superiority to call attention to how this film failed in political correctness; it is much easier to blatantly call it out for being an incoherent mess of atrociously executed plot lines and editing. I have to call attention to the editing, because I like to think there may very well be a better movie left on the cutting room floor. This is little consolation for the monumental disappointment fans are flocking to see in record numbers.
The introduction is hopeful. Director and writer David Ayer wastes no time in getting us into the miserable and eccentric prison lives of the beloved Gotham villains. Will Smith as the world's greatest assassin, Deadshot; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the mutant crocodile-human hybrid, Killer Croc; Jay Hernandez as the repressed pyro-kinetic, Diablo; Jai Courtney as the slovenly Australian thief, Boomerang; and of course Margot Robbie as Joker's right hand wild card, Harley Quinn. More than looking the part, this cast admirably puts their backs and hearts into these characters. This is almost tragic considering so many other elements of the movie failed to do them justice. Viola Davis plays the government spook who masterminds the "Suicide Squad Initiative", a worst-case-scenario operation that involves taking the nation's most dangerous prisoners and thinly offering them clemency in exchange for defending the home team.
So, what atrocity leads to the gang being organized? Enchantress, an ancient witch inhabiting a doctor's body, breaks free from the government's leverage and wreaks unholy havoc on a global level. The issue with this, Enchantress is initially a member of the Suicide Squad. The rest of the team is organized for the first time to battle one of their own members who went rogue. And I kid you not, this paradox is never addressed. The loose debates about letting these mass murderers walk the streets pivots on an assurance of control. Once the control is lost with one member, the rest are allowed out of their cages to get it back. Our love for the characters is stretched so far that we are expected to turn a blind eye to gaping plot holes and lazy justifications. The story ostensibly fast forwards through necessary expositions and tangents to get to the next battle or witty exchange between squad members.
For all its faults, there are short stretches of entertainment when you feel the joy Jared Leto and Margot Robbie bring to their roles. Flashbacks to Leto's Joker with Robbie will make you lament that they didn't just ride that tangent instead of letting this story go so astray. Will Smith has moments of embodying Deadshot in very satisfying ways. He can strike a pose in the heat of battle that summons more fond memories of the comic character. The actors have a reverence for the material that is unfortunately not shared by everyone on the project. Because Suicide Squad can officially be called a blockbuster despite critical backlash, it's a lock for a sequel. When that project comes to fruition, you may still want to like it, but you at least may not expect to.Everything Wrong, the script wasn't really good, the villain and the premise are really unconnected. Confusing. And the joker is strange, like it's not joker, it's just gangster who cosplay as joker.
I think Harley Quinn character is not fit for DCEU, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto is great actor but this movie really far from expectation.
Sorry for WBA puzzlingly confused undertaking that never becomes as cool as it thinks it is, Suicide Squad assembles an all-star team of supervillains and then doesn’t know what to do with them.No, Slade Wilson a.k.a. Death stroke does not appear in the film. But he has recently been revealed to be the main villain in the solo Batman film with Joe Manganiello playing the role. The Joker is in the film, however, he isn't part of the Squad. He appears as a third party with his own agenda. Batman appears in flashbacks as the one who captures Deadshot and Harley Quinn. Bruce Wayne also appears in a mid-credit sequence where he acquires the details on the Meta-Humans from Amanda Waller. It's called "The House of the Rising Sun" and is performed by The Animals. You can find the complete list of songs with scene descriptions here. Trailer 1 (released at 2015 Comic-Con): "I Started a Joke" sung by Becky Hanson from a group called C.M.X. As of 4/4/2016, the song from the actual trailer is not available for sale or download. There have been fake covers of this particular version available on iTunes, but it is not the version from the trailer. The original version of this song was from the Bee Gees from their 1968 album Idea. Trailer 2: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, from their 1975 album A Night at the Opera. Trailer 3: Subtitled "Blitz" so named because the song is "The Ballroom Blitz" by "Sweet", 1973.GQ (Scott Eastwood) would have been killed when he detonated the bomb. Although if the bomb was a shape charge, the blast may have been entirely upwards and away from him. Given his close proximity in a confined space, the size of the blast, and the fact he isn't seen again, it's likely he was killed. The Flash has a brief cameo as the one who apprehends Captain Boomerang. Aquaman's personnel file is seen during the mid-credit sequence. For two reasons: to claim her heart back from Waller, who kept it under lock and key as a weakness to exploit. When Waller first has June Moone reveal her abilities as Enchantress, the heart is revealed to be kept in a briefcase only Waller can open or deactivate by thumbprint with a small bomb inside that will detonate at the first sign of trouble. When Enchantress first tries to take her heart back before unleashing Incubus on Midway City, she appears in Waller's bedroom and approaches the briefcase, only to see it trigger an alarm Waller programed before falling asleep. If she'd moved closer and tried to take it, the bomb more than likely would have gone off and killed Enchantress's spirit. So she had to be clever about getting the heart back and making sure Waller couldn't do anything to hurt or permanently damage it. Also, to exploit Waller's knowledge of top secret government facilities in her rampage of destruction. Waller is revealed to a woman who makes it her business to know everyone's secrets as a way to stay on top when she needs to. When Enchantress's machine is destroying the satellites and secret military bases, people are heard asking how Enchantress is aware of these facilities. It then immediately cuts to Waller with a tube in her head pumping information into the machine. ....staff at her headquarters? Most likely to cover her tracks, it was she who chose to try to exploit the Enchantress for espionage purposes so it was she who would ultimately be held responsible for the tragedy overcoming the city. From a cinematic point of view it demonstrated that even though she is a "good guy" she is cold-hearted and absolutely ruthless in order to achieve her goals. Especially in contrast to the squad itself. Footage removed for censorship is nowhere to be found in the Extended Version. Contentwise, a new path has not been struck either. In other words, if you enjoyed the movie, there's a bit more for you to enjoy.
