Jimmy Conlon, the ageing Irish-American mob enforcer for the crime kingpin, Shawn Maguire, is now reduced to a penniless and remorseful alcoholic whose estranged son, Mike, wants nothing to do with him. However, when Danny becomes the target of the ruthless boss' henchmen, Jimmy, the once infamous "Gravedigger", will be forced back into action to protect his son and his family. Under those circumstances, with every mobster and every cop in the city after both father and son, inevitably, it is going to be one endless, and above all, blood-drenched night. What chances do Jimmy and Mike have to make it out alive?

This is a film I never planned to see, my dad was the one who decided to go and see it. Quite frankly i expected a crappy taken 4 type film with liam neeson doing the same thing he always does, things we got bored of after the first taken film. Seeing Joel Kinnaman on the poster also put me off because he is the most bland person I've ever known to grace screens.. at least thats what i thought after the lackluster Robocop remake. Surprisingly the film was actually something rather good to watch and the two lead stars did quite well.

Run all night could have easily been the first sequel to taken.. it follows Liam Neeson's character after he kills a mobster's son who attempted to kill his son (Kinnaman) causing the two to go on the run from cops and a trained killer played by rapper Common (who has very little to do and didn't have much of a point being in the film... until the end that is). It's the type of plot we have heard of before in a Die Hard sequel for example. Although unlike the generic actiom films we have been seeing recently the film entertains to an almost absurd degree at points, the action was gripping, especially in a particular scene that involves an apartment block on fire and a fight betweem Liam Neeson and Common.. it had me transfixed to the screen for its duration which is more than I can say for any scene from a Taken film. Ed Harris was also particularly good as Sean McGuire.. Who was advertised as the villain of the film, but you actually do feel for him at points and it makes you wonder if Liam Neeson is actually the villain.

The film really plays off of the fact that everything has a consequence and the father/son relationship is a pretty realistic one in the fact that Liam Neeson's character feels regret for the unforgivable things he has done and won't see his son go the same way. The film is far from perfect and a plot point that we do get towards the third act is just sort of blown over and never heard from again when we thought it would go somewhere.. But it is more than you have come to expect from this type of film and i can't complain about that, even if it became a bit choppy at points. Run all Night is definitely worth checking out despite the ridiculous title and I can safely say that this is Liam Neeson's best for a long time.
-Run All Night (2015) movie review: -Run All Night is Liam Neeson's latest action movie, and this time he has to face off against his old friend Ad Harris when he is forced to kill Ed's son in order to protect his own son who wants nothing to do with him.

-As far as a Liam Neeson action movie goes, this one was not too generic and entertaining enough to be good. Not as good as his 2014 run with Non-Stop and A Walk Among The Tombstones though.

-The story has a cliché setup, but with the whole son wanting a clean life and his dad helping him stay innocent of any actual crimes throughout, I enjoyed a slightly refreshing look at what could have been a standard Liam Neeson vs. Ed Harris movie.

-The pace was good, but there was a part in the middle that just dragggggged. It also added a random element to the film that did not seem to matter, came out of nowhere, and never showed up again.

-The acting was all fine. Everyone was good, nobody was beyond their usual self.

-One of the things I have to complain about was how much of a jerk Liam Neeson's character was through the first chunk of film. When the hero starts out more dislikable than the villain, you end up rooting for the son, who was not that likable because he was a stubborn guy. I'm nitpicking, it was a fun movie.

-The music was cool and fitting, but possibly too dramatic.

-The action was cool. Aside from some really cool cinematography, nothing really stood out. It was more realistic though. Thank you John Wick for setting that standard.

-The film had a cool vibe, cool cinematography, and good acting with a good story, but it also had some problems with pace, character development, and consistency. I enjoyed it, but I did not feel like it was worth theater price. So I will say that Run All Night would totally be worth checking out in like a $5 bin or something. However if you just want to see an action movie out right now, see Kingsman. If it HAS to me Liam Neeson, you might enjoy Run All Night in theaters.

-Run All Night is rated-R for some moderate, but not heavy, language and violence.
The story keeps everyone in motion all night long, and frantically so, to the point that it could easily have been titled Non-Stop 2.
