After a cyber attack to a Chinese nuclear facility and to the American commodities market, the governments decide to hunt the blackhat together. Colonel Chen Dawai is assigned by the Chinese government and he meets the American Carol Barrett and Mark Jessup in Los Angeles. He invites his sister Chen Lien and he discovers that the hacker used a computer code developed by his old MIT friend Nick Hathaway that is in prison for stealing money from banks. He requests that Nick joins the team and they have to travel to China following the lead. Along their journey, Nick and Lien fall in love with each other. However they can not discover the motivation for the attack and Nick has to do a risky move to find the location of the hacker. Will he succeed in finding who is the responsible for the attacks?
Set in the criminal world of cyberspace, an experienced hacker serving a 13 year sentence in prison is recruited by FBI and CIA authorities to capture a cyber-hacker committing high level terrorist attacks around the world with no apparent reason. The chase leads them on a worldwide adventure from New York to L.A. to Tokyo to Jakarta. As they begin to start getting closer to him, they discover horrifying motives and secrets that could never have been predicted.
My suspicions started when they showed an elaborate and boring animation of information going through a computer chip or something , for the second time in 10 minutes .. I was like what .. not again .. I really tried but I couldn't torture myself into seeing the whole thing. And here I am now .. looking for answers to my confusion and angst. I am still 'watching' by the way, it's playing while I'm writing this review, which is 20.000 times more interesting. Who or what made it, how and why or what for, what ever. I don't know and I can't be bothered to look it up. I'm truly thankful for Popcorn Time, for not paying a dime to see something this appalling and dismal .. Just accidentally saw another scene .. Hiding behind a 1 inch thick cardboard billboard always works fine for me too, when I'm being shot at with high caliber automatic riffles .. Good move hero what ever your name was.. Just look at the movie cover. He obviously knew what an irreparable unsavory mess he was in .. I would look worried too, for sure
If you're into spy movies, you have just been briefed. This is not for the faint of heart. Use this classified information to your advantage and save yourself .. Make a run for it while you can
Chris Hemsworth is a brilliant actor, from Being Thor to the underdog of rush. However, just putting his face into this movie could not save it. The visual effects to the horrific sound of the gun fights made me just ask why would Chris Hemsworth accept this role? did he lose a bet or something. The movie had great potential but I think the director / writer killed it. I thought maybe the movie flopped in the theaters because other movies just were more appealing at the time. But it is clear that people went to see this and likely left the theater early to ask for their money back and blogged to their friends to go buy a pizza instead. I am sorry, I really like Chris Hemsworths work and you can see he's trying in this movie. And the Director has directed one of my all time favorites "The Last of the Mohicans". Its just a shame how this movie turned out.
At its best, the movie achieves a broody dazzle, even as the narrative proves less memorable than one would have hoped. But the fluency of Mann’s direction and the slow-burn chemistry between Chris Hemsworth and Tang Wei counterbalance the more ordinary, and not always involving, procedural elements.
As a matter of fact, the European Version (e.g. the German and the UK Version) is 32.4 seconds shorter than the US Version. A little background information about a suspect has been removed. Allegedly, he has ties to a latino gang. a5c7b9f00b
